Tyler The Creator

Tyler The Creator has some serious hype around him right now dropping some of the dirtiest rhymes I've heard in a while and I can't get enough of him right now. He released a mixtape last year entitled 'Bastard' which I've had on repeat for the last couple of days. He's also part of Odd Future Wolfgang Kill Them All with a wicked collection of young rappers and producers, including Earl Sweatshirt. Not bad for a 19 year old. Check out some of Odd Future's videos on Youtube as well because they are hilarious.

Here's some tracks off 'Bastard'. Also keep your eye out for 'Goblin' which is supposed to be released in April.

YELAWOLF

Recently signing to Eminem's label Shady Records, Yelawolf has been making a pretty wicked name for himself, releasing a mix tape 'Trunk Muzik 0-60" late last year. Eminem has been quoted saying that Yela is unlike anything he's ever heard, and apparently its been workin for him. Here are a few tracks off of Trunk Muzik

This Wednesday is a big night for firsts. First of all im pretty sure its the first time Marcus Visionary will be gracing the stage at the Hi-fi club! SO thats really exciting and the last first and probably even more exciting is my first live jam with Crimson! I have very rarely been seen DJing with a partner so im really excited to flex my skills with the producing mogul Crimson. Future Sound - An Underground Electronic Music Documentary - HD from Jamie Whitby on Vimeo.

Crazy 13 min documentary featuring some of the sickest beat producers right now. I really love the parts with Scratcha DVA, the dude is so hilarious! Anyways, this has some really good insights on the music scene on London for those of you who don't really know about and it also has some nice philosophies on on tunecrafting in the 2010's...

Come join us tonight at the Lord Nelson Bar and Grill 1020 8th Ave SW tonight for an all out locals jam! Myself (Typist) along side Dan Solo, Mr. Geography, Lorne B and the lovely female DJ combo Theif and Donna Dada will be killing it on the decks. Visuals provided by Beema! Going to be a sick local Dj jam and potentially one of the last ever at Lord Nelsons...

SKRILLEX

Skrillex/12th Planet (LIVE) @ Avalon/Control

Skrillex (Sonny Moore) is a producer from LA and before that he was the frontman for the hardcore band From First To Last. I just picked up his new EP here on beatport because I was tired of listening to the shit quality downloads. Anyway, Skrillex is touring North America through November and December and if he's making a stop anywhere near you I highly suggest you spend any amount of dollars to get see him. I've heard "Scary Monster and Nice Sprites" get dropped a few times in and around Sydney and people are going bananas for it. So here are a few tracks off the EP for you to download so when you go out and the DJ drops these you can be like "OMG I totally know this song!" Much Love

With You Friends (Original Mix)
Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites (Original Mix)

BONUS: A few previous releases that I've been enjoying

My Name Is Skrillex (Beau Damion Edit)
In For The Kill (Skrillex Remix) <--128kbps
Alejandro (Skrillex Club Mix)

Modeseletikon

If one were to relate the art form of DJing, it would fair to say that as much as midi controllers, synths, turntables, monitors and all that other shit that goes into the kraft, the most basic tool for a DJ is tunes. Modeselektor, my personal favourites in the electronic world, have been working diligently outside of their already hectic realm of releasing their own tunes to Monkeytown Records where they are now going through the ultimate process of curating and releasing a fresh box of tools. The level of artistry here is magnificent in that MDSLKTR have really diversified their selection of who and what's been included in Vol. 1 but there is a strange continuity in what they are accomplishing. It's scary to see myself literally playing regularly a bunch of these tunes in a nigh off of the same releases, something thats generally taboo as a DJ but completely acceptable because they are so different. It's MDSLKTR's era to reign as the electronic music SELEKTOR and i'm proud to say they are representing the most interesting collection of future sounds currently being made. This is the kinda shit i beg to pay for, just to support.

Big ups.

Below is a bunch of previews of some of the yet-to-come's in the Seletikon world.
